My Magic Grandpa: A 90’s Para-fantasy Adventure!

 

‘Suzie is a very adamant straight A middle school student in bizarre but beautiful Northwest Oregon. Being so focused on her grades, she has no time for friends, and thinks it’s better that way. But when she gets herself caught up in a supernatural situation, her whole world view gets flipped upside down into The Otherworld! Before she knows it, she’s pulled in to a life of mystery and adventure on the other side with her strange and eccentric Grandpa Coach, a man wielding a magical golf club who disappeared when she was a toddler. Why hunt the supernatural when you can befriend them?’

 

‘My Magic Grandpa’ is a supernatural 'monster of the week' comic combined with slice of life. It takes place in the mid-90s. The comic was inspired by a lot of the things I was passionate about growing up near Portland, Oregon, where I’d often go out exploring, camping, sharing ghost stories and myths, and embracing the weirder side of things. This is a story full of mythology and magical lore, both familiar and new. Sometimes it will be silly, other times it will be heartwarming, and hopefully even a bit scary sometimes. The comic is rated PG-14

The main characters are Suzie, a young teenage girl who’s obsessed with good grades, and her grandfather, Coach, who’s a long time vagabond with magic powers. Follow Suzie as she grows and learns about the Otherworldly and other mysteries, all while having to put up with her extremely eccentric and undiagnosed autistic grandfather who hadn't seen her for over 10 years and missed her dearly.
